During law school, I was a TA for Professor Michelle Alexander’s Federal Litigation Clinic. Aside from being an outstanding clinical professor, she did outstanding work with the ACLU’s Driving While Brown project when we were in law school.
She’s not a criminal defense lawyer, but she writes like one.
CNN recently picked up a great op-ed piece she wrote, “I’m a Criminal and So Are You.” This is an outstanding piece that should be the basis of every voir dire in a criminal case.
You can read more of Professor Alexander’s work about the disenfranchisement of millions of voters on her website which is eponymous of her first novel, The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness.
